Problem
Since its establishment in 1958, the factory management had chosen to utilise tiles as their preferred flooring system. However, in recent years, the issue of slip resistance has escalated, causing a safety concern for the facility's operatives. Minor accidents involving personnel operating production machinery have underscored the immediate need to address this issue. Additionally, the unloading station at the facility has faced persistent challenges with its flooring, warranting a comprehensive refurbishment. Stonhard Slovakia was entrusted with the task of executing the project, with the client opting for resinous flooring systems instead of the traditional tile method previously employed at the facility. This decision aimed to ensure that the site's infrastructure adhered to stringent regulatory standards and operational necessities.

Solution
Stonhard's scope of work encompassed the removal of the existing resin cladding and tiles, which had suffered from extensive cracking and damage. Following this, Stonhard’s inhouse installers applied Stonclad UR as the resin flooring system and Stonchem 656 for the lining system. Additionally, measures were taken to protect the walking areas utilised by site personnel during the product unloading process.
Throughout the project, Stonhard Slovakia demonstrated exemplary project management skills, particularly in addressing weather-related challenges. Aware of the potential disruptions posed by inclement rainy weather, Stonhard erected a tent structure to shield the unloading station and operatives, ensuring uninterrupted progress and timely completion.
